This video teaches you how to resize header images in WordPress.
- Download the Page Ruler Chrome extension or another measuring extension for your browser type
- Measure the size of your header image
- Open the page with the mis-sized header image
- In the settings panel on the right make sure ‘Page’ is selected
- Click the ‘Replace Image’ button under the current featured image
- Upload your image again (if it’s located somewhere else on your site) upload it by clicking the Upload files tab
- Click the Select Files button
- Browse for your image and click ‘Open’
- Once the image is uploaded click the ‘Edit Image’ near the image in the Attachment Details panel
- Click the crop button
- Enter your header size into the Selection fields under Image Crop
NOTE: If the header image is a bit too small you can either upload a larger image or use some algebra or an aspect ratio calculator to future out the size you need to adjust it to. (Watch the video tutorial to see how this works.) You’d also use this same method if you’re working with an image that’s too large and you want to bring it down to size.
- Drag the selection area to the desired location on the photo
- Click the crop button (YES click it again)
- Click the blue Save button
- Click ‘Set featured image’
